GENESIS CHAPTER 12 THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF OLD TESTAMENT HISTORY:

bulletThe call of Abraham

God chose Abraham to give birth to a nation.

Abraham’s relatives (the Hebrews) moved to Egypt for 430 years.

bulletThe Call of Moses & the Wilderness Wanderings

God judged Egypt and delivered the Hebrews by Moses.

Forty (40) years of wandering in the wilderness.

bulletThe Conquest of the Promised Land

Joshua led the people into the Promised Land (Canaan).

God destroyed seven (7) nations in the land of Canaan.

The Promised Land divided to the 12 tribes of Israel (the Hebrews).

bulletThe Judges, Prophets, and King

God gave them "Judges" for 450 years.

After Samuel, the Prophet, they wanted a king.

God gave them King Saul for 40 years.

Then God removed Saul and gave them David for a king.

From David’s seed (relatives) God promised them a "Savior".

bulletThe Division of the Kingdom

After David’s son (Solomon) died, the kingdom was divided.

Enemies then took both divisions of the kingdom away into captivity

bulletThe Return from Captivity

A remnant returned from captivity (after 70 years) in 536 B.C.

The Old Testament closed 100 years later.

There was about 400 years between the Old and New Testament writings.

SUGGESTION:

Memorize the events above in the same chronological order.  Notice Stephen's sermon in Acts Chapter 7 that was so powerful it caused him to be martyred.  It was the same content as above!

THOUGHT:

God called Abraham alone, and blessed him, and increased him (see Genesis 12:1-5 and Isaiah 51:2). God did NOT call Abraham’s family, even though he had a family, and God blessed his family because Abraham obeyed. What do you think God can do through you alone? Will you be God’s friend?
