Commentaries from ancient Jewish Rabbis who lived righteous lives point to and identify The Man: the Messiah of Israel. Although not Scripture, the writings of various Targums and the Sanhedrin confirm the identity of the Messiah. Both appearances of Messiah are clearly identified by ancient rabbinical writings. God called one man, the man Abraham, to bring forth a nation. And He called that nation, Israel, to bring forth The Man: the Messiah!
Isaiah Chapter 53 Rabbi Mosheth Al-Shekh writes: "Our rabbis with one voice accept and affirm the opinion that the Prophet Isaiah is speaking of the KING MESSIAH, and we shall ourselves also adhere to the same view." [See also Midrash in Ruth Rabbi 5,6 (Chap. 2:14). "This refers to the sufferings, as it is said, 'But he was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities'."] Rabbi Moshe Al-Shech, in commenting upon Isaiah 53, says: "God comes in the Scriptures to make known how far the merits of those who bear the chastisement of their generation extends: and He brings proof from KING MESSIAH, Who bears the sins of the Children of Israel, and behold His reward is with Him." Yalkut-Shimeoni on Isaiah 60: the whole paragraph 499, both Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53 are applied to the MESSIAH. On "Surely He has borne our
griefs, and carried our sorrows" (Isaiah 53:4). Zohar comments:
"When Israel was in the Holy Land, they had their sufferings and their afflictions
removed from them by their prayers and sacrifices; but now Messiah removes them from
the children of the world." [Sanhedrin 98b Targum Jonathan on Isaiah 53:10 /
